You’re reading the first post from Low Impact - a resource about reducing the impact our day-to-day lives have on the environment.

Well, “first post” is technically correct, but not the whole story. The seed of “Low Impact” started with dasman’s World - a blog on a whole grab bag of topics, mostly computer-related. But over time, it came to have an increasing number of environmental related posts - enough to justify breaking that out into its own blog!

The next phase had “Low Impact” hosted on a commercial blog provider - there were a lot of plusses, but also a few minuses. So finally, the decision was made, the domain name purchased, and here we are.

A few comments on what this site is about - its not about berating people for their planet-destroying ways (that’s reserved for our friends and coworkers )! It is about providing a resource on ways that people can choose to reduce their impact on the environment. Everyone is different - some people are ready to spend thousands on a solar powered house with grey-water recycling, while others aren’t ready to go that far, but would like to cut down on their power bill. This site aims to be a resource to as many of those people as possible.
